SOLOMON FINE ART AT THE MERRION

CHARLIE WHISKER
memory and promise

From Friday 20th February to Sunday 22nd February 2009, Solomon Fine Art will be hosting a solo exhibition of new paintings by the renowned Dublin-based painter Charlie WHISKER at the prestigious Hotel Merrion in Dublin.

This is Whisker’s fourth solo exhibition with Solomon Fine Art, having previously held solo exhibitions at the On The Wall Gallery, Belfast, the Hendricks Gallery, Dublin and at the Kerlin Gallery, Dublin. He was a participant at the 1985 & 1987 Irish Exhibitions of Living Art and at the 1988 New Irish Art, North and South exhibition which travelled to New York City. His work is included in the collections of the Arts Council of Northern Ireland, AIB Bank and Ulster Bank along with numerous private collections.

Whisker has produced over 20 new paintings for the show.  A limited edition box set of 10 prints, entitled 'memory & promise', will also be launched at the exhibition at a special pre-publication price of €1850.00 + VAT.  To view a PDF file of the entire set of prints, please click on this square icon:   (Adobe Acrobat required)

The prints excavate the previously unseen, rich, informal ground of Charlie’s sketchbooks. They weave together drawings, writing, poetic musings with all the idiosyncratic references that have become his signature as an artist over the past 20 years.  The images have been printed by Stoney Road Press in 2009, on 330 gsm Somerset fine art paper measuring 29 x 22cms and are published in a black linen box.

The paintings and box sets may be viewed prior to the exhibition by appointment; please telephone +353 (0)45 862 940 or +353 (0)86 814 2380 for further details.
