TIM FLACH EQUUS Monday 28 September - Thursday 1 October 2009 The exhibition will be open 10am - 8pm daily, or by appointment
Solomon Fine Art represents Tim Flach in Ireland and is pleased to host an exhibition of thirty-two limited edition photographs of rare and beautiful horses from the four corners of the globe. With this recent project, Tim is aiming to capture the emotion that horses evoke in us, rather than to simply take a photograph of a horse. Tim brings his subjects into such close focus that the viewer begins to read the gestures and body language as we would a human being. His photographs evoke pathos, humour and an unmistakably intimate human empathy.
This exhibition also sees the Irish launch of Equus, Flach’s stunning 300-page book of equine photographs. Equus is an intensely moving look at an animal - as solitary subject and en masse, from the air and from underwater - whose history is so powerfully linked to our own. From exquisite Arabians in the Royal Yards of the United Arab Emirates to purebred Icelandic horses in their glacial habitat; from the soulful gaze of a single horse's lash-lined eye to the thundering majesty of thousands of Mustangs racing across the plains of Utah, Equus provides an amazing and unique insight into the physical dynamics and spirit of the horse.
Tim Flach is a graduate of the prestigious St. Martins School of Art in London where he studied photography. He spent twenty years as a successful advertising photographer - his clients included Adidas, Jaguar and Sony - before turning to more personal work, garnering much press and many awards along the way. Tim’s work has been featured in publications such as the Sunday Times, Creative Review and National Geographic Magazine. He has also received many international photography awards including the Association of Photography and British Design & Art Direction Awards.
Please drop by for a glass of champagne, view the exhibition and experience the thrilling atmosphere of Goffs world-renowned annual Orby Yearling Sales. You might even consider becoming a part of the exciting horse racing industry by purchasing a horse or part thereof in a syndicate - Goffs yearlings have won more two-year old races this season than any other European sales company so you are bound to end up owning a winner!
Looking forward to seeing you at the exhibition, Suzanne Macdougald
