In the artist’s fourth solo show with Solomon, Leah Beggs presents us with a collection of new paintings which emerged from her thoughts of imagined places, far from the turmoil of the world this past two years.  Drawing inspiration from the ever-changing landscape that surrounds her in Connemara, the paintings in More Than Us illustrate the artist’s feelings - that much in this world is out of our control. 

 

Beggs is well known for her large abstract paintings, filled with wide, gestural brush marks and layers of subtle colour. By combining her technical skills as a painter together with her emotional response to the landscape she brings an immersive and reflective quality to her work. The introduction of joyous pinks to her canvases and her signature pallet of atmospheric blues come together in this collection to reflect the artist’s experiences of the past two years.
