Helen O'Sullivan-Tyrrell

Overview

Born in London in 1968, O’Sullivan-Tyrrell grew up in Bray, Co. Wicklow and is now based in Brussels. An architect by training, she went on to study painting at the BKO (Beeldende Kunst Overijse) art academy. While mainly a figurative painter, her subjects range from portraiture, still life and landscape and are often imbued with art historical references. 

 

O'Sullivan - Tyrrell  was selected for the final of the BP Portrait Award in 2015 and was among the finalists of the Belfius Art Prize 2014 and the  Hennessey Portrait Prize in 2014 and 2015.

 She has exhibited extensively in in Belgium and Ireland and is part of many private and public collections including the OPW.
