Fiona Smith

Overview

Fiona Smith began sculpting at an early age in Worcestershire, England when as a child she would model horses and animals from the rich Worcestershire clay found in the family garden. Following a move to Ireland in her teen years Smith trained first as a graphic designer and in later years undertook a practical Bronze Casting course in the National College of Art and Design in Dublin.

Smith has been exhibiting in Dublin and throughout Ireland and for the past 25 years. Her work has been included in the prestigious RHA Annual Exhibition, Sculpture in Context at the Botanical Gardens, Dublin and has been featured in group shows and art fairs in the UK and USA.

Now based in County Meath Smith sites early naturalist illustrators such as Audubon and Bartram as her inspiration as well as the beautiful wading birds of Ireland which she encounters on her walks.
