Solomon Fine Art is delighted to host a solo exhibition of new work by master sculptor Michael Quane. This much anticipated show will include a range of Quane’s distinctive hand carved, figurative sculptures in limestone and marble.

One of Ireland’s most highly regarded contemporary sculptors Quane is best known for his works in polished marble and Kilkenny limestone, which he textures with a claw chisel. His traditional stone- carving skills are used to produce figures, both real and imaginary, which combine strength and grace with a touch of quirky humour. Quane’s method of tooling the surface of the stone creates a distinctive texture similar to cross-hatched pencil marks and is an indication of how his work evolves from the initial ‘drawing’ through to sculpture in the round.
