'I want to make sculpture that transcends its scale, and that has a soul':

Anthony Scott tells Brian McAvera about his purpose in creating sculpture

 

Brian McAvera: Do you have a philosophy of sculpture?
Anthony Scott: I suppose that when I'm making a piece, I want it to be dynamic: I want it to have a soul, to provide the viewer with something challenging, that transcends its scale, that has an inherent vitality. I want to make sculpture that has a sense of timelessness; that in a hundred years from now still has the resonance and, to paraphrase Picasso, to make art that washes from the soul the dust of everyday life!
