Solomon Fine Art is delighted to host a much-anticipated exhibition of new work by the renowned Irish sculptor Orla de Brí. This collection of bronze sculpture explores themes of human vulnerability and endurance, elegantly capturing the personal and collective experiences of fear, loss, change and resilience.
De Brí’s predominantly figurative sculptures feature highly stylised human forms that often merge with or evolve into elements of the natural world. She is deeply interested in human behaviour, how we connect with others and with our surroundings, and our capacity to grow and adapt over time. Conceived in the wake of the pandemic, de Brí describes Out of the Shadows as a sculptural exploration of human vulnerability and of our capacity to nurture, find strength and move through uncertainty.
Working from her purpose-built studio in Co. Meath, Orla de Brí is a hands-on sculptor, involved in every stage from the first drawing through to the varied and sometimes physically challenging sculptural processes. Working in a variety of materials including bronze, steel, stone and fiberglass, she is celebrated for both her large-scale public sculpture and her more intimate gallery works. De Brí has exhibited internationally in cities such as London, Paris, Hong Kong, Shanghai and Beijing and has completed 27 site-specific, large-scale public sculptures in Ireland, London, Portugal, Istanbul and the US. She is represented in many prominent private and public collections including the University of Limerick, Bank of Ireland, Aer Rianta, US Embassy Dublin, Dublin City University and The Office of Public Works.
