Bridget Flannery: TERRA INCOGNITA

12 January - 4 February 2023

Solomon Fine Art is delighted to host a solo exhibition of work by artist Bridget Flannery.  The richly coloured and textured abstract paintings in this, the artist’s second exhibition at Solomon are influenced by the tones, shapes and language of the landscape and seascape in all its forms.

Flannery’s paintings emerge from prolonged engagement with her natural surroundings and express the character of a place as well as the memories,  emotions and sense of history conjured. “Landscape and language become one, language and colour become one” says the artist of these immersive periods of time spent in the landscape, walking, sitting, drawing. The work in Terra Incognita is the fruit of two recent such experiences in unfamiliar and vastly differing terrains - Ballycastle, North West Mayo and Yamba, New South Wales, Australia. Using acrylic, pastel, and collage on wood surfaces, these paintings represent Flannery’s exploration, curiosity and investigation into the tones, textures and histories deep within these diverse landscapes.
